What is this?
An eight-week course in Nam’khor, a set of movement exercises from the Tibetan tradition of Dzogchen (often translated as “the Great Perfection”). The class focuses on standing exercises alongside supportive standing meditations, with bouts of playful and relational movement. Like other Dzogchen practices, the aim is to help you find greater intimacy with your circumstances, in a direct way that’s low on bullshit.
The movements are easily accessible, soft, and graceful. They are mostly standing movements, with fluid patterns followed by the arms and some gentle spinal rotations. Some of them can be practiced seated. You will probably not sweat much doing them, making them a good fit for practicing before moving on to your work day.
The class will prioritize learning the principles and functions of the practices as a base for personal innovation—not adhering to a rigid form.
Here is a ~10-minute video where I walk you through one of the movements, called Sky Dragon.
There’s no need to be familiar with Dzogchen, Buddhism, meditation practice, or other movement systems to enjoy this class. There’s also no need to be in “good shape” physically. If you have specific movement difficulties, we will work together to find an approach that fits.
